I have something to admit. This is very hard for me, as I consider myself somewhat of modern good-ole-boy. I mean I have a bunch of trucks - some !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I have broken down vehicles in my yard, I have a couple of dogs. All the things a modern southern man needs. But here's my shame: I have never driven a motorcycle.

Well, that is a lie. I've driven one a total of maybe a mile. But still, for all intents and purposes, I have never driven one.

So, to remedy my shame (and to continue my habit of poor impulse control) I picked up this bad boy last weekend:

Kinja'd!!!

It's a 2006 KTM 450 EXC. That ought to help me get my learnin' on!

I'm going to try to post some updates on my progress as a rider, and share any tips and failures I find along the way.

Wish me luck.

Good luck! My dad has been racing enduros up in the New York/New England area for years now and he loves his KTMs. I only have a street bike at the moment, haven't been dirtbiking since I was a kid and of course now I really want to.

You've not ridden much so you're first choice is a 450? Glad to see you're not messing around. Best of luck to you!

I'm convinced the 450's are just rockets hidden by some plastic and a couple tires. I really don't know why they come with a front wheel, the only time it's on the ground is when they're parked.
